Two decades of exceptional senior living!
This year Smith Crossing is excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
What began as an idea to provide housing for the elderly who didn’t have anyone to care for them has blossomed into the gold standard in senior living in Chicagoland – and two successful communities. To celebrate we’ll be hosting exciting events, informative exhibits, sharing video tributes and more.
How it all started: The history of Smith Senior Living
Smith Crossing was the second of two communities created under the Smith Senior Living organizations. When the Oakhaven Old People’s Home (Smith Village’s first name) opened in 1924, no one could imagine what it would become 100 years later. Take a trip down memory lane and discover the storied history of Smith Senior Living.
Our grand opening
In August 2003, Smith Crossing residents marked the beginning of construction for the new community by releasing hundreds of butterflies and dedicating a butterfly garden. The butterfly represents the benefit that can be realized by embracing change.
Then and Now
Delicious dining has always been on the menu at Smith Crossing, even if the décor in the room has changed. Take a look at our main dining room then and now.
